Ing. Rêzan Shahwan

Welcome to the first Kurdish architecture website, that has been represented in 4 different language, namely Kurdish, English, Turkish and Dutch.  I am from South-Kurdistan, also known as North-Iraq.  I was born in the neighborhood of Zaxo: the place, that gives access to North-Kurdistan. I have lived in the Netherlands for 15 years now. In 2004 I graduated from the College of Amsterdam in Engineering technique. I am currently working at a well known architecture firm in the Netherlands, Faro-Architecten . I am active at this firm as an architectural engineer. If you would like to read more about me click on picture.

The goal I would like to accomplish with this website is to bring people up to speed on the Kurdish architecture. I will attempt to do this through providing information that is concerned with the developments of building projects and the architecture of the cities of Large Kurdistan.
Another important aim of this website is to walk in the footsteps of my ancestors who always fought for recognition of Kurdistan. As many Kurds, I too have had to flee Kurdistan because of the Baath-regime of Saddam.  With this website I hope to carry on the work that my ancestors have started.  In the Netherlands I have been given the opportunity to further develop my skills. I would therefore like to give something back to my birth country. At the moment I am involved with a building project for Kurdistan.

This site will take you on a journey along the rich architectural history of the 21 Kurdish provinces. This history will be shortly summarized and the new building projects will be featured under the heading "Future".  Take your time for this educational history of the rich country “Kurdistan".
